Photo of the Week
(c) Louis Baton
Today I stumbled upon this eerie image that's considered the 1st photograph to be taken underwater. It's amazing where procrastinating at work will take you! I find it perfect for the gray summer weather we've been having here in Chicago (or at least I'm trying to embrace what I can't change).
Not really a huge fan of this band, but this album cover is pretty fantastic. With fall's colors already fading away, I'll definitely be focusing more on contrast / light / shadow during the crisp, harsh months coming up in the Midwest.
Not really sure what to make of the website? blog? trendland.com, but these interior snaps from a couple months ago certainly caught my eye. Apologies for the delay in posting this, but you may find something else hidden within the confusing website that's another source of inspiration.
I saw Phosphorescent (aka Matthew Houck) back in 2010 and he and his band were alright. But Houck has arrived at something special with Muchacho, which I had no idea was his SIXTH album. The album is at its best when you're travelin down a stretch of road with the sun on your shoulder.
According to the weather forecast this is [hopefully] the last day of snow we'll have in Chicago. So this is my last chance to share the ethereal photos of Elena Shumilova, who popped up on my facebook feed a bit ago. You can scroll through all of her photos here.
It only took almost a month to get around to scrolling through my Christmas photos. But with mounds of snow and dropping temperatures, why not keep things festive?
This is more of a plug for an album than a legitimate "photo of the week" post, but this new album by Sallie Ford & the Sound Outside is too good to keep quiet about. I finally got around to listening to the album yesterday even though it came out in February, and suggest you give it a listen as well. I think it even tops their debut release.
These should have been the photos of the week weeks ago when this piece by Nick Koch came out in September, but moving and adding a second job have gotten in the way of my blogging. These photos by Alex Farnum seem even more poignant now though, since fall seems to have arrived here in Chicago as well.
I made this gif recently for a photo class. My apologies if it's choppy...
Can't believe I forgot to upload photos of my birthday flowers last week, courtesy of the parents and the boyfriend.
1 photo each week showcasing inspiration/innovation/curious orientation
So glad I finally got around to doing this! I recommend going to your local greenhouse for terrarium help, but this is helpful too.
